We are developers. Software developers. We make things. We make art, yes, but it's more than that. The art we deliver adds aesthetic value, but it also brings functionality. Our products are enjoyed by our users, but they also help find the airport, pay the bills, converse with the kids, remind the brain, record the data, and choose a place to eat tonight.
It's an incredible time to be a software developer, and the excitement is only building. Everyone and their mother is talking about little gadgets that change lives in big ways, and pretty much every single one of those gadgets is running software in one form or another and often times talking to other software systems.
In my opinion, technology is not significant on its own. What's significant is the ways that it can augment and enhance the things in life that really are significant.
